Academic Intergerity and Performance

This week I have been exposed about what is plagiarism,common type of plagiarism and how to prevent it when writting assignment,paper or report.I also learn about what is grade point average(GPA) and cummulative grade point average(CGPA) and how to calculate GPA and CGPA.

What is plagiarism?
-Take someone else idea that can be in any form and republishing it without giving them credit for it.

Avoiding plagiarism

-Many students unintentionally guilty of plagiarism when they write their assingment,report and research paper.So students must alert because this case can be really heavy if they found out that their idea have been copied from someone else without their permission.

Ways to preventing plagiarism

  • Paraphrase

-When you found the perfect information for your assigment,read it and make it in your own words.
-Make sure you don't copy verbatim more than two words that you have found and if you use more than two,you will have to use quatation marks.
  • Cite
-Follow the document formatting guidelines used by your educational institusion
-This usually entails the addition of the author and the date of the publication.
  • Referencing
-Including reference page or page of works cited in the end of  your research paper.
-This page must meet the document formatting guidelines used by  your educational institution.
-The information is very specific and includes the author, date of publication,title and source.


What is GPA and CGPA
-GPA is grade point average and CGPA is cummulative grade point average
-Both of it represent student's academic achievement
-It is based on how much marks that student get from the quiz,final exam and assignment.
-Student's achievement calculated average grade is scale from 0.00-4.00
-Formula calculating GPA and CGPA?

-Calculating marks for GPA and CGPA
Failure and dissmissal
  • D1-CGPA less than 1.80
  • D2-CGPA less than 1.80 with P1
  • D3-CGPA less than 2.00 with P2
  • D4-Failed in certain course more than three times
  • D5-CGPA of less than 2.00 at the end of maximum period of study and still have courses which have not been completed
  • D6-Passed all courses required by a programme and fullfilled all the requirements of programme but acquired a CGPA of less than 2.00
  • D7-Did not sit for examination of all the registered course for  that semester without the approval of the university
