This week is lesson about how do we take lecture notes.It is important because we can save much of our time taking notes from lecture and learn how much easy our study if we learn from our notes.

What is taking note?

-Writting idea from lecture and do it in our own words


Why take note

-Help us to pay attention in class
-Help us improve our memory
-Help us engage our senses
-Help us study for take quiz,test and final exam
-Help us to organize and process data and information
-Help us to take ownership of idea

Why review notes
-Lose 80% of what we hear
-Identify any question for peer,the next class and ask the professor
-Not enough time to absorb all information given in class

-Frees you up to write in quick,shorthand during class
-An excellent test-prep strategy
-Better than re-copying
-Prompts higher level question
-Great for kinesthetic learners

  • Pens,Pencils,erasers,etc

Before class
  1. Review your reading assignment
  2. Reviw from the day before
  3. Have paper,text,pencil,pens,handout
  4. Write data the top of your paper and notes
  5. Leaves spaces between the lines

How do we take notes ?
  • Date and label notes
  • Give ourselves space to write extra information
  • Use abbrevalation

How do we prepare for class?

  • Do pre-reading and homework
  • Review syllabus and preview previous notes
  • Look up key words prior to class
  • Write date at the top of your paper for notes

SQ3R

SQ3R or SQRRR is a reading comprehension method named for its 5 steps

  • Survey - go through a chapter
  • Question - form a question about content of the reading
  • Read - read the whole text quickly and attempt to answer it
  • Recite - summarize the answer of the text using our own words
  • Review - explain to ourself about the chapter using our own words
